Green Duck Lounge: A series of podcasts exploring today’s civil rights movement through the lens of history


In 1970, a gunman killed civil rights leader Leon Jordan outside the Green Duck Lounge, a popular Kansas City watering hole which Jordan owned.

Reporter Michelle Tyrene Johnson of KCUR-FM in Kansas City is also a playwright who penned the play,” The Green Duck Lounge.” In Februrary, the University of Missouri staged the play, which explores how the contemporary #BlackLivesMatter movement parallels the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s by focusing on the life of Jordan.
